Hi--

I did a major goof up and i need to know how to fix it. I was trying to get
rid of "windows Messenger" and instead i ended up getting rid of several
items that i NEED.

i had gone into "add/remove progams", then add remove windows components,
and several items were pre-selected. I unselected EVERYTHING EXCEPT windows
messenger. Now i need to know how i get all those things back that are gone
.. (for example win media player, update root certificates, outlooke xpress,
network services, msn explorer, management and monitoring tools, internet
explorer, fax services, and accessories and utilities)

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!

Brace yourself!! It may be even worse than you think. Because some of files
are shared between applications it is possible that other applications may
not work. It may be possible to re-install the deleted applications but, in
my experience you could find yourself doing a lot of work only to find that
it still doesn't work properly. I would suggest you think about a complete
software re-install. This does entail some work but at least it works. The
added advantage is that it is an opportunity to do a spring clean. However,
before you embark on doing this you will need to make sure that-

you have a complete backup of the hard disk
you have all software CDs. This includes drivers for the modem, printer,
scanner, camera etc.

On second thoughts you could try going back to a previous restore point!
