Hi

Thanks for me giving me the chance to be a new member of this helpful site!
I have a problem with my Compaq Evo N800v notebook, I want to reformat my hard disk and reinstall the windows xp, but the problem now is my notebook suddenly shut down, i tried to boot in start up disk format the drive, while i'm in fdisk the notebook shut down.
I also erase the hard disk using kill hard disk software but still my notebook shut down and never boot up again until i push the switch on.

sometimes i manage to go through fdisk and I found out that my hard disk has partition but I did not do any partition. I try to erase my hard disk in another notebook when i put back my hard disk to my compaq, maybe in 5 to 10 minutes my hard disk has partition again.

I try to use the quick restore cd but nothing happen it has the same problem,

i hope somebody can help me about this,

Why do/did you want to reinstall windows xp in the first place????
Compaq are notoriously difficult to repair, you may well by using fdisk have erased the recovery partition on the hard drive, some compaqs also used to keep part of the bios on the hard drive as well.

Do you not have any recovery disks or original software that came with the laptop?
 
Hi and welcome Mike :)

If your laptop shuts down without any input, then it sounds like a hardware fault and 2 seperate problems - did the notebook not shut down randomly before you formatted it?

thank's for the reply, Yes! I have the original cd, the recovery disk but still no used because the notebook shutdown in 1 min or 2 min.

Thanks for the reply! No! my notebook is working normal no shut down no anything before i formatted it, but something happen while i'm downloading mp3, I'm using limewire suddenly my Mcafee antivirus and firewall turn off and warning say's "another user shut down my Antivirus and firewall and i scan with spybot i got a lot of spyware and my system getting slower. so when i try format i'm doing the fdisk suddenly my notebook shut down and i find that my hard disk has partition that i did not do,everytime i try to delete the partition he keep's on coming back.
