I get a Runtime error when I attempt to open any explorer window. I can't
even open my control panel. Below is the error:
-----------------------------------
Runtime Error!

Prgram: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications's support team for more information.
-------------------------------

Does anyone out there have a suggestion as to how to fix this problem?

Thanks,
Jim

You seem to have misposted. This is a group for IE6.
You should post to a newsgroup for your operating system.

Uninstall the Google Toolbar.

I appreciate the suggestions that were given to help me solve my problem.
Removing the google toolbar was the solutions however I couldn't get to
control panel to remove anything nor could I open an explorer windows.

What I did was...

Open my command prompt
I changed directory using the "cd" command to c:\program files\
I did a directory listing using the "dir" command and discovered there was a
google folder there.
I changed directory to the google folder
I did a directory listing there hoping to see an uninstall file
There was none, however there was a dll file there
I entered the following command: regsvr32 -u "filename.dll" to unload the
dll
After that, everything was working again.

Thanks!
Jim

Frank,

Your reply was correct in the fact that I needed to uninstall the google bar
however there were no instructions as to how to do that.

My first thought was to look at add/remove programs only to discover that I
was unable to open my control panel because of this problem.

I then opened a command prompt window by clicking Start-->Run and typing
"cmd" and did the following:

I changed directory using the "cd" command to c:\program files
I did a directory listing using the "dir" command and found a google folder
I changed directory into the google folder hoping to find an uninstall
executable
There was none, however, there was a dll file there.
I enter the following command: regsvr32 -u "filename.dll"
This fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help!
Jim
