Can someone tell me how to clean out and old lap top so I can reinstall win
98. This lap top was used for a student and a small home business and is now
very slow I am sure it must be full .Do I have to wipe the hard grive? if so
how do I do that? HELP

First - locate all installation media. (CDs for the Operating System,
applications, etc.) You may have to copy off the system some things that
you downloaded (installation for applications you got off the Internet.)
You shold also back up all data that is important to you to external media.

Then locate the installation keys (serial numbers to install the software
with) for all the software. This is especially important for the Operating
System.

If I recall - Windows 98 is not "CD Bootable" - so you will need a boot
diskette. If you don;t have one - you can get one from:

http://www.bootdisk.com/

For Windows 98.

You cold also use one of the boot disks there to wipe the drive of all
information.. Then use this Microsoft Knowledge base article to reinstall
Windows 98.
