I am running xp pro on my home pc, and also on my laptop. I was able to setup
and use remote desktop when the laptop was connected to the lan at home, but
my first trip away from home and I'm unable to connect remotely to my home
pc. the home pc is setup to allow remote desktop. Someone able to provide
some guidance? I have tried the help and support, but that is useless. Btw, I
get the message "the client computer could not connect to the remote pc.
remote connections might not be enabled, or the pc might be too busy, or
there may be network problems." Since I was able to connect when the two
computers were in seperate rooms at home, I don't know why I can't connect
from another place using the same two pcs. thanks

You need TCP Port 3389 open on any firewall/NAT/router between your home PC
and your ISP. Call using the public IP of the home firewall/NAT/router. Use
a *STRONG* password. See this page for additional help...

For additional security you can run Remote Desktop through a VPN or SSH
tunnel. Here is how I do the latter...
