The easiest way is determined by your skills and theirs.

If they are going to ask you for remote assistance and they are not behind a
router - then email is fine.. MSN messenger is even easier.

If they are going to ask you for remote assistance and they ARE behind a
router - then they have to know a bit more and they must have it setup to
allow such traffic through the router in some way (forwarding usually.)

If they are Windows XP Professional and you are going to remote desktop into
their machine (not "help" them, but fix something as one of their users and
then tell them to log back on) - then you have the same problems as above
and you must know their username/password (or some username/password that
can do the work you need) on their computer as well.

If you are using some third party product - you will likely have the same
trouble (with or without router) as above and you will need to know how to
use the third party product properly.

What is easier -- given us what you have -- is completely a function of what
the person you are assisting and yourself are capable of doing with whatever
software/method you choose - with whatever understanding of each of your
system setups is.

Shenan:
Tks for the response. It has caused me to look at what I aim to achieve.
I'm not really into computers, but I like trying new things and when my
sister asked for help I figured that this might give me something interesting
to try out. I want to take over her computer and set her up with some
security etc. I'm a truck driver and am gone 2/3 weeks at a time so don't
take the fact of "no response for awile as a " i'm not interesred. I'm not
even sure I'm working this board right. thanks again for the comeback.
