Hy, I'm have W2K Professionnal installed on my machine and
I know for a fact that there are viruses in my computer
right now and there a blue screen that keeps showing off
every 15 minutes and I have to reboot everytime....

anyways, I noticed that there's a restoration utility that
you can use by pressing F11 before windows starts. I don't
have any windows cd with the machine, I have the product
key and I read in a guide that you can restore the system,
my question is: Can I restore the system with its original
settings without using the Windows cd ???

The restoration utility *may* access a hidden partition on yr disk that
contains a win2k recovery option.
Often used by large suppliers; Depending on how the recovery has been
configured you *may lose all yr data* as yr system is put back to its
origonal state.
You *may* be able to clean yr sys of viri using a AV app that can be run
from the cd
The blue screen need'nt neccessarily be as a result of a virus, could be
another problem.
If you have to restore win2k you must install a firewall and current AV app
*prior* to connecting to the internet. Then install the win2k critical
updates.
Both ZoneAlarm, firewall, and AVG AV are free, you could ask someone to
download and burn to cd for you.
MS will also supply SP updates on cd, there may be a carriage charge.

The only time I have seen blue screen error on W2KPro was when the RAM was
damaged. You may want to check your hardware.

Sorry, I can't resist.... How was the blu screen "showing
off"?

Was it jumping up and down and saying "na naaa ne naaa
naaaa"?

You need to analyze the blue screen, that is going to give you tons of
details and more importantly the error code. At the top is a hex
value followed by other hex values. The first hex code is the kernel
error code. Start there and search technet and the groups.

This is another reason why I really like XP over 2000. You could go
back to a restore point if you were running XP.
