-----Original Message-----
I am running Windows 2000 Pro. I have a 20GB HD and it is
partitioned into 3 smaller logical drives C:/D:/E:
I somehow managed to deny myself access to my E: partition
on my admin account which denied access on all my user
accounts. Is there a way to recover this.
Please help.
Thanks
.
Brian, try one of the following:
First, using the subinacl.exe utility, write an script
that changes the permissions of your drive E:, then set
your local machine policy to run this script as a startup
script (in machine configuration->windows configuration).
Next, reboot your system.
It is supposed that this script will run under the system
account when the computer starts, wich must have
permissions over your drive, so this should work
(although i never test this). When you log on with your
administrator account, you must be able to access this
drive.
If this doesn`t work, you may want to install another
instance of the OS on another location (e.g. the Win2K
directory on your C: drive). Doing this (and starting up
with this new instance), you will have Full Control over
drive E:, thus you will be able to change the
permissions. (This is a true case in wich the
administrator denied the control over the administrators
group).
Hope this help you.
Julio.
