Hi everybody,
I am not sure that the "item" am looking for is within
this group! but i am trying to find a solution to a
problem i have. I am looking for a "program" to download
to show me where from my emails are coming (the real
senders, despite the name that shows in the header). But i
found nothing so far that i understand easily (as i am not
really a IT specialist). The reason is that I have a legal
problem with someone, who sends me lot of emails, using
even the addresses of other friends (to cover himself). I
heard that this software can help me. Is that accessible
(free download)? easy to run? or it's also complicated and
I won't be able to use it!.

Sorry, but the matter is really important for me, as it's
the only way to prove to the police that i am harrassed by
that guy.

Thanks a lot if you can help me.

Not a program, a court order.

Any name can be supplied it's how I'm able to use WXYZ in my address.
best you can do is trace the ip address in the header.

What you really want is a shell account with your provider some call it a telnet
account.

While it borders on stalking if you manage a shell account and know of his IP
address you can monitor everytime he logs onto and off of his account (under his
real account name). with this information and the time stamp of the e-mails you
receive, it could put you in a better position with the police.

it would depend upon you. The hard part is getting a Shell account in the first
place. But the program your looking for doesn't exist. I say this because the
Spammers would be using it.

I thought about you after my post, did some checking, and I was wrong.

While a Shell account will do as I stated. You would do better with a program
called netinfo:

and hope your duds provider allows what your after.

How was I wrong? my real name does indeed show up in the listing :) right next
to my logon name. Go figure, yet my provider will not allow you or me to finger
my account. (it's how I used to pass my PGP key).

good luck
