Hi,
I have tried some messageboard including ExpertsExchange but had no luck..
im hoping u lot can help me out :)

Im running win XP.
Absolutly No printer driver will work on my PC.. This is not a printer
hardware problem or a specific driver problem. I have tried more than 1
printer with drivers which i know work on my other machine + even drivers
such as PDF creator dont work, so its not even my serial port etc.

Why/how could windows XP be unable to use any printer driver ? It fails
instantly if you try and print a test page.

Thanks for any help in advance

Without more information...I would check and make sure your cables are
correct. Are you using a parallel connection...if so make sure that the
cable is IEE certified to be bi-directional. If using a USB try swapping it
with another USB. I think this is a cable issue.
Good Luck

Thanks for your reply, but like I stated in my post.. "even drivers such
as PDF creator dont work, so its not even my serial port etc" (note: the
PDF printer driver doesnt print to a physical printer; its creates file.

Its Not the printer, or any cable.. its purly that windows XP seems
****ed up and wont run any driver correctly. I have lost of stuff
installed so I really would prefer not to try and re install :/

All I can guess thats wrong with it is that some driver or something has
been turned off in windows ? anyone ever heard of such a problem before
????

Thanks anyway

I have an HP842c connected to my XP and it works perfectly. I don't need
any other stuff .

Is the print spooler running? Are you logged on as an Administrator (or
User with Admin Rights) when you install the printer? How is the printer
connected to the PC?

Much more info needed.

Do you have permissions to use the printers? If so, try re-installing the
OS on top of itself.

Is this a new computer or a new motherboard by any chance? If so,
check your BIOS settings and set your printer port for EPP. If that
doesn't work, try other settings. Also make sure your printer cable is
good and attached to both the PC andprinter properly.

Best regards.

Hi all,

Thanks for your replys..

Its not a Bios/printer port problem - same occursed when using an
ethernet printer or shared printer etc

The printer spooler is running (are there any other services which may
effect it ??)

And I would prefer not to risk re installing windows over the top of it
self.. thats just a messy disaster waiting to happen ;)

.... Still looking for the answer
