I came in to work today to find that all 4 of my Word 2003 windows are
not responding. One of them said something about losing a network
connection (the document was on a network drive) and asked if I wanted
to Retry or Cancel. I clicked Cancel, but it is still not responding.
I'm guessing it is also affecting the other 3 windows. Two of those
windows contain unsaved work so I don't want to kill the processes and
lose all of my work. Is there any chance these windows will come back
to normal, or am I screwed?

Sorry about your luck but you should NEVER leave a computer without
appropriately saving any unsaved work.

You will need to find out why the network connection has failed and attempt
to repair it before quitting any processes. If this was a wireless
connection, right click the icon in the sys tray and click repair. This may
clear up your problem. The second option is to attempt a save on each Word
file onto the local hard disk. If this works, you can then reboot to
hopefully repair the network connections. You can switch between the Word
documents by clicking on the documents on the task bar or by holding the Alt
key while pressing the Tab key to step through each open program/file.
