Not sure where to ask for help on this product but here I go:

I just installed the Virtual Server 2005(sp2) from our Action Pack
subscription on a Windows 2003 server (SP1). It said I had to install
IIS so I did.

After installing I tried to logon to the admin page but I get the
error message "You are not authorized to view this page." I'm the
ADMINISTRATOR on this DC! What the heck do I need to view the page?

There is NOTHING in the documentation on this and I cannot use the
software without this silly app. It's REALLY irritating as I've spent
the better part of the day trying to find help on the WEB on this and
MS's site (useless). All I get is FORBIDDEN and I don't know what.

The only thing I found is that i have to logon with a local account.
It's a DC...there ARE no local accounts! My admin account DOES have
local logon access rights but that doesn't help. I've tried several
accounts and nothing.

Can somebody lend a hand here so I can get this fixed and go home?

(can you tell I'm frustrated???)

Thanks, all for any support.

I don't have a copy of Virtual Server to compare to here, but go into the
IIS MMC and go to the Properties of the "site", then to Directory
Security,..and then to IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions. Set it to
"Granted Access" with nothing in the lower box.

I remeber having similar problem when I experimented with it once and don't
remember what i did to solve it. You might also try connecting to the
management site from another machine,..there may be a restriction about
logging in "locally" that after you get into it from another machine you can
change it. I wish I could be more specific but I just don't remember it well
enough.

I gave up on it even after getting it working because it was too complex,
slow, and "clunky" compared to VirtualPC. I went back to running XP on the
box with VirtualPC and ran everything within it.

Try using http://localhost/<virtual server admin page> instead of
http://<servername>/<virtual server admin page> to log onto the Web server
while on the server. For whatever reason, the service pack for Virtual
Server has changed the behaviour of the logon page.
