Head to http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm and
read all of that tutorial.

Test your file in the MCI Media Player as described. If it doesn't work,
make sure your settings are correct as described in the tutorial.

Make sure you've used a common codec for your video file. Common codecs are
also discussed in the tutorial.

I can play it with Windows Media player and everything is ok but not with powerpoint, only the sound comes out.

Notice that Echo said to test it in the MCI player, which is not Windows
Media Player. If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, go to Start > Run and
type in mplay32.exe. If you are using a different version of Windows, type
in mplayer.exe.

Please share your solution so that those who are having a similar problem
can learn from you.

I had the same problem. I found an article on microsofts
website and it fixed the problem if you are presenting
the slide show on your computer. But if you try to create
a packaged cd the video files can't be embedded it says.
So that makes the work around useless unless there is
something I'm missing.

You can get the movie to work though if you are playing
the presentation on your computer. Just do a search
for "no video but sound" under the microsoft knowledge
base and you should find it.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Dave,

If you are referring to the following article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=818224

Then, by using the "Resolution" in the article instead of the "Workaround"
you should have no problem including the movie when using the Package for
CD feature.
