Hi all,
I have XP Home on my laptop. We just did the Service 2
Pack update a day or so ago. Today, my McAfee did it's
thing and updated my Virus software then I was prompted to
restart. When I did so, a error came up but dissappeared
when the computer shut down. Once it restarted, my user
name is GONE! I did CTL+ALT+DEL and it brought me to a
Log On box with my user name filled in but the password
area blank. I DON'T know the password...what the heck do
I do now??
Thanks for any and all help.

When the software loads and brings me to the Blue Opening
page for Windows XP Home, it says "click on user name
etc..." There is NO user name there to click. No Admin
nothing.
I have tried all I can think of. For some reason this
info is just gone.
Anyone??

After you type CTRL-ALT-DEL twice when the Blue Opening page for windows xp
logon, try to fill the user area with "Administrator" and then press enter to
continue.
Usually, the password for the administrator user is blank...

I have done that...many times. It is as if the users
(Admin and others are gone...literally!)
When I log in in safe mode, there is NO user available to
click.
I think I am going to have to do the disk recovery and
wipe out my hard drive and start again :(
Thanks for your reply!

Laney,
Call MSN 1-800#, I've had this happen, and they walked me through it on
the phone, just make sure the "rep/tech", you talk with has worked there for
more then a day :). The whole call took probably less then 10 minutes.
