I am having problems in setting up a home network. I have
a windows 98 PC and Windows XP Professional laptop, both
linked to a Netgear MR814 router wirelessly. I gave the
same workgroup name on both the computers, ensured all
networking components exist, but each computer CANNOT SEE
the other.

When I attempted to see the workgroup computers on XP, I
get the error message
"
Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available.
"

Please advise how to get rid of this message and proceed
further

If your home network is behind a cable/DSL router, then either disable
your firewall or set your firewall to allow NetBIOS for the local
network.

Enable simple file sharing on your XP Pro computer in Folder Options
control panel. Disable the Computer Browser service on your XP Pro
laptop and let the 9x computer control the network view.

Make sure that printer and file sharing are enabled on each computer and
that something is shared. Report back if you are still having trouble.

Mixed networks are hell.
