I'm trying to reinstall WinXP on a 250 gb Maxtor hard drive. I've gone
through partitioning and formatting the drive twice but I can't get to the
'Preparing to setup Windows' screen with 39 min left. I did the long NTFS
format and after it finishes copying the files and rebooting, it sits there
with "press any key to boot from cd". Does anyone know what I'm possibly
doing wrong?

Thanks,

How about some more information about the rest of the system.
Just knowing that Windows XP is going to be installed on a
250 GB hard drive is not enough to explain the stalling. What
CPU and speed? How much RAM is on the motherboard?

In the bios, do you even have booting from the HD enabled?

It's a P4, 3.0ghz processor with 1gb of ram

Hi - I tried it both ways: first I booted from the cd - then I changed the
order to boot from the HD and still no go. It just sat there.

Guys - Sorry, I forgot that this is actually for MCE. I found a newsgroup
for it and I'll post there also. Thanks.
