I have a Packard Bell IMEDIA 5041 Windows XP Home Machine with 256MB DDR
Memory. Wehn I view the RAM config in BIOS I see it as a 256 as well as when
viewed in system properties in control Panel. But when views through system
Information inn system Tools, it shows I have 512MB physical memory. I would
want to know if anyone has experienced same problems, why this occurs and
wether or not it has a damagin effect to the Machine. I tried installing a
512memory chip and again, when I went to view it in system information, it
came up as 768MB, always adding an extra 256, whereas my BIOS continues to
report the correct memory size. Can anyone help?

I wouldn't be worried. Its probably a bug or something
like that. If the computer works fine and the bios shows
the correct amount of RAM then your probably good.
don't let it bother you.

collect your money. No ifs, buts or maybes

Hi, DDR means Double Data Rate, Maybe your sys info tool is showing the
single rate. 256+256=512. As far as the 512 chip showing as a 768, DDR and
SDram chips are not interchangeable, you have to run one or the other, but
not at the same time.
