Help with Pharaoh game - "Please insert CD"

My daughter has a copy of Pharoah. Her twin sister also wanted to play it so I burned a copy of the CD and installed it on our other computer. Set up worked fine. But it won't play. Just says "please insert disk"

I have had a look around on the net and there does seem to be a way of making it work without the CD. But it's very long and complicated (for me), involving changing endless search strings and other scary things.

I also apparently need WinDASM 8.9x and a Hex Editor. I've no idea what these things are

Does anyone have any advice, please

Game such as this have copy protection to stop you from doing just that. It
is a violation of the DMCA to try and crack it. Now, me having said that
you might get help from people saying that i'm wrong and they can tell you
how to crack it, but i dont know much about it.

I did wonder if it was a bit naughty to copy the CD, but since I bought the original one (rather than just borrowing it to copy), I thought that was fair enough. I think cracking it's going to be a bit too complicated for me, anyway, so I'll have to splash out £5 to buy another one!
