Hello,

I have had a Creative WebCam 5 on my XP Pro Asus P3v4X box for a few
months and all was okay.

Now I have a new box with an Asus P4B533-E mobo and evey time I connect
the Webcam it crashes with a blue screen.

The message is..

0x000007E (0x000005,0xF8697BA6)
usbhub.sys address F8697BA6 base at F8696000, Date Stamp 3Ca8e12a

I have a usb hub plugged in and the speakers connected to it work fine
but as soon as I plug the webcam in, I get it has found the it and then
goes looking for drivers, then I get this mesasage. It has happened 3
times now.

I am not sure about the USB2 drivers that are being loaded as this Web
Cam was using regular USB.

Should I have 'all' these in Dev Mgr under..

Universal Serial Bus controllers ?

Generic USB Hub
Intel PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C2
Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C4
Intel(R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24C7
USB 2.0 Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Storage Adapter

Any ideas?

Thanks.

David

I found one post in groupsl.google.com that suggests it could be a
USB power problem:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

To rule out this theory, disconnect the hub and speakers, and see if the
webcam by itself causes trouble. Do the webcam drivers need to be
installed before the webcam is plugged in ?

As for your device manager, I think I see one USB 2.0 controller
(the word "Enhanced" and the "2.0 Root Hub") and another six items
that cover three instances of USB 1.1 controllers. So, it looks OK
to me. Dunno what the "Storage Adapter" is, unless you have a USB
connected disk drive as well.

HTH,

Thank you guys..

The Storage Adaptor was/is an external USB HD drive and it works fine.
USB plug goes straight into the comp box.

The speakers work fine too out of the mini hub, but the webcam ..oh no!

I have the new XP drivers from Creative and use them.

It all works on the other TUSL-M box but not on this P4B533-E

I'll go looking. Trouble is every time I attach the webcam and I get
the dreaded blue screen of death, it goes through a windows scan of at
least 2 drives of my 4. I will turn them all off except the USB
external and the primary master.

Thanks again..

I think there's a few options in the bios related to USB. Maybe they can
help?
