Hi guys,
I'm running XP Home Editon and for whatever reason, I have lost my *Open
With* option to use a particular program to open specific files, etc.
from my desktop. The *Open With* option is still there in the menu when
I right click to bring up the different context menus but on the side of
it , all it has is a *Second* *Open With* and NO options or list of any
other programs I can use for opening files. I don't think I have
deleted anything that would cause this to happen, but it may have
happnened through a registry cleaner I use weekly to clean out the
'deadwood' from the registry.
While I am not exactly a computer newbie, I really have no idea as to
where to start or to look to repair the *Open With" option or if it is
a registry, or a shell problem etc. So.... I am wondering if any of you
could have any suggestions, ideas or remedies for this problem of mine.
Should I just try and run the SFC to fix it or would that even work? Or
maybe a repair of XP over-itself to leave my data and other settings as
they are??
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions for getting my "Open
With* Menu back on my desktop. BTW, it seems to work fine inside the
Explorer but does NOT have any options if I want to use it from my
desktop.
