Help with my constantly closing browser

It seems that since I have installed and worked with
Microsoft Antispyware, whenever I open a browser, it
automatically closes. I've tried deactivating it with
little luck, only to have (virtually any internet browser
that links one to the outside world) shut down.

What's up with that?

Do you get a specific error message? I worked with a neighbor today whose
browser was closing with a "memory at location xxxxx cannot be read"
message. The cause turned out to be the Google toolbar. We removed the
toolbar, Internet Explorer returned to normal, and we then downloaded the
toolbar anew, and reinstalled it--no problems.

One reason I was able to fix his system so quickly was that I had researched
a different error message this afternoon, from a query in these groups,
which also led to the Google toolbar. So--if you have the Google toolbar
installed, I would try removing that via add or remove programs, as as first
troubleshooting step. Other browser add-ins might well be similarly
suspect.
