I recently had to format my hard drive and now I need to get the
WIndows updates going back to last year for WIndows, IE Explorer and
Outlook Express.
How do I get Win Updates to find and install these updates - when I
tried to get them all that WIn Updates would give me was the most
recent update.
Any assistance would be appreciated,
Mary
Hi Mar,
First of all, make sure you have a protection software installed on your
system, like an Anti-Virus with Firewall and an Anti-Spyware like Defender or
Spybot (don't run either in Protection Mode/Tea timer mode).
Then go the below link and download the Standalone SP2 (don't worry about
the IT pro stuff!!) Disconnect from the Internet and Disable your Anti-Virus
or Just the Firewall then Install the SP2, when finished you will be prompted
to Restart, click (NO) then try to Shut-Down the machine as Normal and wait
for a Five (5) minutes then Start your computer normally and Enable the
Firewall.
If the Av reported that Windows Firewall is enabled, try to Disable the
Windows Firewall and just stay with Anti-Virus firewall to protect your
computer as it is better than the Windows Firewall for either
Inbound/Outbound Traffics.

Also get the updates/Drivers for your Mobo and Hardware from their
Manufacturer website not from windows for better performance and
compatibility.
