Hello, we are experiencing a bit of a lag when a user
opens a folder to a mapped network drive. We're running a
Win2K server and when a user opens up a top level folder
(on the mapped drived to the server) it stalls for about
10-15 seconds and then displays the directories. If they
close explorer and try it again it doesn't lag. It's
weird. This server box is used for a few Terminal Server
clients and a file server mainly. If I connect to the
terminal server and open the drive from there it doesn't
lag. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks for your help!

Make sure the server has SP4 installed and all the latest critical updates. If the client is a Windows XP machine, stop the
WebClient service. Verify that all machines point only at the DNS server that host the AD domain name, if you are using AD.

Thank you,
Mike Johnston
