I have several slides where I have action buttons that will play Mpeg or AVI
files when I click on them. My problem is every time I do that I get a pop
up windows advising me about the dangers of macros, once I click "ok" I can
start the video clips. How do I disable this so I won't get this pop up
window?

I went to Tools | Options | Security | Macro Security. I have it set on
"low" but I still get the pop up window.

Any help will be appreciated

Thank You,

Len

How did you set up your action buttons?

I suspect if you insert the movies using Insert/Movie/From File and then use
a trigger animation to start your movie, you won't have the virus warning.

http://www.echosvoice.com/triggers.htm has some basics on using triggers.
Holler if you need help adapting it for use with video.

Sorry for the delay in the response, I was out of town all week. At first I
tried inserting the movie like you suggested, but it wouldn't play for some
reason. I got around that by clicking on Slide Show | Action Buttons | and
then associating the movie with that action button.

Thank you for your kind offer to help and for the for the link, I'll look at
it and hopefully it will resolve my issue.

Have a great day,

Len

Ah.

There could be a number of reasons that using Insert/Movie/From File doesn't
work on your system. It could be a path-length issue or a variety of other
things.

That said, the difference between using Insert/Movie/From File and using
Insert/Object/From File (or setting an action button to call the movie) is
that Insert/Movie causes PPT to handle the movie via the MCI Media Player,
while Insert/Object or the Action Setting forces Windows Media Player (or
whatever your default media player is) to handle the file. But Insert/Object
and Action Settings can also cause you get the security warning.

I'd try to go the Insert/Movie route if at all possible.
Start here to get a better feel for what's going on under the hood when you
use Insert/Movie/From File.

Test the movie file using Run/mplay32.exe as described in the tutorial -- if
your file plays there, but still won't play in PPT, then see
http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm for some troubleshooting tips.
