help with linking tables

I seen this on a website

"you can automate the process of linking tables for your
users by prompting them for the path to the back-end
database when they start your application. Then you can
use the RefreshLink method to refresh your application's
links."

I have a front end and a back end, I want to automate the
link process like above. how would I do that..

How do I convert the front end DB from a .mdb to a .mde?

Make MDE:
Tools
Database Utilities
Make MDE...

The database format needs to match the version of Access. in order to make
an mde.
Also, it is best if you do a compile (successfully) prior to making an mde.
