Hello,
I have a problem with the network in my office. The problem has just
started in the last few days. Before that it has been working fine for
months.
I have about 10 machines .. all xp and one 2000 server.
Netgear Router and Netgear Switch.
The problem is whenever I plug the switch with all the computers on it
into the Router the internet connection slows down to almost a halt.
It still resolves names but it runs about like a 56k modem.
Whenever I unplug the network switch and plug a computer directly into
the router it is very fast again. I have treid narrowing it down to
one pc causing the problem but have not had much luck. I can reset
everything and for a while and it will run fast. But then after a bit
traffic on the switch goes nuts (activity lights blinking like crazy).
I thought I had found a machine with a NIC blowing packets and
disabled that card but about an hour later it started again.
Any Suggestions on what could be causing this? I am stumped.
No new software or equipment has been installed lately so I am not
sure what else to look for.
Thanks For any Help you can give me!
