HI,

I have a Fuji Xerox 6200 Laser printer and whilst printing some labels
some of them have stuck to the image roller.

I have got some off but don't want to hurt the roller.

What is the best way for me to remove them?

I guess I need some type of fluid.

Thanks

Naphtha (lighter fluid) should soak through the label and soften the
adhesive.

Be very careful about using any solvents that may work to dissolve the
adhesive. Some may also literally dissolve the light sensitive roller
materials.

I would strongly suggest you contact a photocopier or laser printer
repair company and ask them what they use and what is safe. I'm not
suggesting anything offered here won;t work safely, but the image drums
are costly to replace, and one false move could be the last one for it.

Dissolving the labels' adhesive isn't the problem... lots of options
there for sure. The problem is finding the option that also will not
damage the drum surface, which is both made up of a very special surface
that has a reversible light-chemical reaction, and adhesives and binders
that allow it to adhere to the often metal drum.

As others have mentioned, be careful with bright lighting, as that can
also damage the drum's ability to remain light sensitive. In general,
all direct sunlight is damaging, and bright room light, especially
halogen or fluorescent can do damage.

Thank you for your time and experience.

I had a suggestion to use a hair dryer gently which I did and after a
lot of rubbing, I was able to get them off.

The whole roller was covered with the bigger 8 to a sheet labels.

This is the roller that when you open the machine it is there looking at
you on the imaging unit. It is a softer style of rubber.

I have notice this morning that I am getting a yellow dot every inch or
so down the page and also a red one down the page a couple of inches
across the page.

I will run a few sheets to see if it goes and if not then maybe I have
some residue left which I will try the stationary store as you suggest.

Many thanks again

Try Isopropyl Alcohol. This will dissolve some adhesives and does not damage
most drums. Be sure to observe the precautions others have suggested with
respect to exposure to light, and test at the edge of the drum first. If
Isopropyl does not affect your drum and you can get the label off leaving only
adhesive you can use cotton wool with the alcohol to remove the remaining
adhesive.
For future reference are the labels you used specifically designed for use with
Laser printers? If not you should purchase some that are.
There is a saying - "There are two types of users that print on labels, those
that have had a lable stuck in the printer and those that will someday". Whilst
this is not as true as it used to be, choosing the correct labels is critical.
Good luck.

Ha ha.. I like that saying...

I am using Unistat Laser/Inkjet Copier labels 100xA4 sheet 8 to a page.

I have used the same for a few years, with this printer and I HP G95 i
have with no problems before. One must have just gone into the run a
little off centre. I will be more careful and watch next time.

Thanks for the input all advice is taken and appreciated from all you guys
