Help with image downloads

Every time I save an image from a webpage, no matter if the image is a jpg or
gif, it is actually saved as a bitmap. I can't find any place in "options"
hat allows me to change that setting. I haven't done anything to change that.
A few weeks ago, it saved them as jpgs or gifs, but not now.

How can I get it to save them in their original format?

Me too, but that doesn't stop me from doing things with
it. Once I was even trying to do something with it, and
it turned it iinto a JPG automatically! I saw something
on this site a few hours ago about the BMP question, maybe
one of the top ten questions being asked or something. I
didn't go and read it, but if you can find it, it might
help you.
