Sleazy Rider

Trying to get into ServeRAID mini-config utility via ctrl-I during
boot and it will simply not respond. I am trying to format and
partition my array, as all the drives were wiped prior to me picking
this up. Unfortunately, it came with no manuals and the online stuff
at IBM doesn't show any other way that *I* can find. The server has 8
2.1 GB drives installed and none are partitioned or formatted.

Are there any shortcuts, tips or helpful reminders to assist me in
this?

Hi Sleazy Rider,

This is an old Server ;-)
You need IBM ServeRAID adapter software version 3.x to define an array. This
is harware RAID so you cannot format and partition an array. I think the
Array already is define and you only has to install the OS, but unfortanly I
think that you have to install the OS starting with boot diskette, because
the server is so old that the BIOS do not support booting from the CD-rom.
When installing the OS you need a diskette with the RAID adapter driver.
(the RAIDadapter is possible an IBM ServeRAID or IBM ServeRAID II adapter).

After Googling my heart out and sifting the chaff on the IBM website,
I finally figgered that out at midnight last night. <g> It's all
good now. Seems whoever was wiping the drives to sell this box used
fdisk to clear the drives and set up individual partitions on each
drive. A quick pass thru with fdisk to remove all the partitions and
voila! Two RAID arrays are now fully functional and running.

Thanks!
