Hi all,

I appreciate if anyone could help with the above..
One of our production server , suddenly, got this 'Hard Error' window pop-up
and SQL server on it stopped working, etc;
the server is windows2000 adv. server with SP4..

We ran the hard drive diagnostic from Dell and came out as no error on the
hard drives..
Could it be a software issue with Windows2000? and I like to see if there is
anyone having the same issue like us..and how to resolve this problem before
we go after Microsoft for support?

thanks in advance..

Check Event Viewer for error details.

thanks Dave..but unfortunately, windows didn't log any event on this
issue..I was expecting to see something but there was nothing logged in all
events (the appl. and system events)

The files may be corrupt. The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;
