I have tried everything I know to change the "read only" attribute of my file folders without success. When I create a new folder anywhere on my hard drive it is created with the "read only" box checked. Is this normal in XP PRO? When I display the Properties for the folders ther is No "Archive" box either.
I am the owner and do have full access rights. What am I missing?

it's normal for a folder to have it's read-only check box checked w/ a
grey or green check mark. You can clear it, but when you go back into the
properties it's checked again. Don't worry about it, the RO attrib is not
actually set, it's a "feature" of the property dialog.

Thank you very Much. That's what I was after.

I also want to say thank you. Thank you. Did I mention Thank You? I've been struggling with this for hours because I thought it might have been a cause of a different problem I was having! Evidently, it's not part of the problem.

Thank you!
