Sometimes I log on to the internet and all of my websites
that I have saved in favorite folders are missing, then I
have to do a system restore in order to get them back.
What could be causing this and is there a folder that
holds those websites that I could copy to disc for safe
keeping ....?????

Windows XP has been storeing Windows shortcuts for each of my favorites in a
folder with my Windows XP log in name within the "Documents and Settings"
folder. Those shortcuts could be copied to a floppy with Window Explorer.

Are you loging in on a guest account? It would be reasonable for the
favorites for such accounts to be cleared at log off.

Earlier versions should have Favorites folders too. Try looking within the
"Windows" folder.

You can copy your favorites via IE's file menu, import and export.
It's a good idea to keep a copy on a floppy in any event.
