I would be very greatful if any one could tell me how to
make a back up copy of my dvd collection. This is for MY
OWN PERSOAL USE AND NOT TO PASS ON TO OTHER PEOPLE

There are a couple of freeware apps that arguably surpass the capabilities
of DVDxCopy:

DVD Decrypter will rip any DVD, stripping its region codes and copy
protection. It will create an ISO image of your DVD and will burn it to
DVDR: http://www.dvddecrypter.com/

If a DVD you're wanting to copy is a dual layer DVD and therefore will not
fit onto a single-layer blank DVD, you can use DVD Shrink
http://www.dvdshrink.org/ to compress the material which DVD Decrypter rips,
so that it will fit. The result of this particular process is also an exact
duplicate of your DVD, but of very slightly lower quality due to
compression- this is what DVDxCopy does also, but for a fee.

Regards,
Ian.
