Help with Document Not Saved message

I have a large workbook with a lot of code and formulas
being used by many different users. Each user uses a
template, and builds the sheet for their use. The
template alone is about 5.5 meg in size.

Occasionally a user goes to save their work, and it gets
about 2/3 the way saved and then it comes up with the
message box "Document Not Saved", with no explantion or
error code of what might of caused it not to save.
I disabled all of my code, and it still wouldn't save.
Makes no difference where you try to save it to.
I close the workbook and Excel, reopen the file and it
saves fine.

Users are loosing their work. Any idea what causes this
error in saving?
 
I've seen this problem occur when the File Server (which hosts the document)
gets rebooted or there are network problems.
It becomes impossible to save the file, even to your C: drive.

Last saw this problem in XL97, not sure if later version have fixed it.
