hi,

i tried to edit our company's dns server setting by going to admin tools -->

The dns admin window opened up for about 1 - 2 sec, before closing
automatically.

anyone can tell me what happened to my server? is it infected by virus or
worm?

in message : it's running on windows 2000 server SP4.

That's not enough information to make a determination. Are you running RTAV
software? Have you checked the log files?

thing happened.....it closed automatically in 1-2 sec......and that happened
to all admin tools e.g. internet service manager, local policy
etc........also the task manager is infected, closed in 1-2 sec.

Sorry. RTAV = RealTime AntiVirus. To restate, are you running an antivirus
program on this server and is it updated? Running does not equal installed.

Start/Run/Eventvwr

: when i tried to open the event viewer, same
: thing happened.....it closed automatically in 1-2 sec..

Ok, that answered that.

You may have to start the system in safe mode and run an updated antivirus
on the system. At the very least it should allow you to do some
investigating.

Reboot, then Press F8, after the POST (Power On Self Test) and select Safe
Mode. My recommendation, since this is a server, is to get something with
some experience to assist you. What you don't know CAN hurt you. Losing
face is always better than losing your server.
