Hello,

I am trying to extract 5 lines from some imported text in excel.

Here is an example of what one of the cells looks like:

WTB: TI SN74LV00APWR, NEW, qty 2, CALL, TSSOP

Everyone of the cells includes the same 5 lines of data with variou
amounts of "lines" either above, or below the 5 lines:

Name:Colleen

Company Name:Colleen Company

City, State:Irvine, CA USA

Phone:/Fax: P: 888-888-4541 F: 888-888-2501

E-mail: (e-mail address removed)

I have using what I know about excel, text to columns and such but a
having no luck.

Thanks in advance,

JT

hello JTL,

i agree w/ Frank, it's unclear as to your goal here. i can take you
example and do a text to columns, delimited w/ a comma, and put th
information into 5 seperate columns.
or
text to columns, delimited w/ a comma & a space, adn put it into
different columns.

please specify what you want broken down and which parts you would lik
retreived, and how

The problem I am having is, when I export these e-mails from Outlook
and try to import them into Excel, the carriage returns are put int
the text. With this, I am unable to use the text to data feature.

I will try again to show you here, here is what the data looks lik
now:

I want the end result to be:

Colleen

Whenever I have tried using the text to columns feature it cuts some o
the data off if I used the delimited way. I cannot use the fixed lengt
method because all of the emails are have different sizes.

Maybe this is a better way to ask this question. Is there away to ge
rid of all of the carriage returns in this text? If it were just al
lines of text I think I could get it to work.

Sorry for the confusion,

JT

Hi
how did you export the data from Outlook?. Looking at my Outlook there
is the Option to export your data either directly to Excel or to export
the data as CSV (comma separated file) file. Either of both should be
usable and create a database like structure.

Don't copy and paste your contact info

I am using Outlook 2002. In it i can export using about 8 differen
methods. I have tried Comma Seperated (windows), Tab Seperate
(windows), dBase, Tab Seperated (DOS)...and so on. They all seem t
give me the same result

Hi
just tried it (with Outlook 2003), exported my contacts as Excel file
and it created a database like structure with one row per contact
without any problems.

Hi John
I just tried to export my Outlook 'Sent' Folder to Excel. Chhosing
'Export to File - Excel' as option within the export wizard. This
create a column oriented database structure without problems. Though
this does not look exactly like your screenshot this format is best for
further processings.

So which export parameters did you use to create your export data 8look
like RTF format for me)

I am thinking it is RTF. I have exported it at least 50 times lookin
for a "text only" method but it doesn't look like i am able to set tha
option during the export. Maybe that's a feature in 2003

Hi
this option should also be available in older Outlook versions. If i
choose ' File - Export' in the first dialog of the wizard I choose
'Export to file' and after this I can specify the file type
