My husband bought me a dell laptop. and since I got connected my connection speed is on 28.80kbps. My desktop and 50. They told me at dell that the phone cord should not be over 6ft. long and that that is the problem. I have never heard such a thing before. Does anyone know what I could do to get the speed up

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that I just got about a month ago. Smooth sailing until about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I was connecting at 53kbps. Then I don't know why but the speed dropped to 16 being the lowest and 28 being the median. I can't get any subscriptions from Newstand or Zinio to download because of a message that says either I have a firewall or something is wrong with my internet connection. No Page Display is wrecking my last nerve. Every web page takes so long to open that I can brush my teeth and blow dry my hair and come back to find it is still on the same page or the no page display. I have MSN. I have tried to get help and had luck getting to the support page once only to get the wrong information that did not help the connection at all. I have tried so many times to get back to the support page and I swear they are dodging me because I have not been able to get to that page since. Do you have MSN? Have you tried using a 6 ft cord to see if the speed is better? My cord is a 25ft cord and I had no problem getting 53.
