I already knew that I needed to change the driver to the 3rd party driver
from the default windows driver but HOW do I find which item to click on
under the devices? I have a new Bluetooth thing that shows up and I have an
unknown USB device listed under all my USB stuff... I tried to get drivers
for both of those to update to the 3rd party and it couldn't find anything
better (even off the cd install disk). I am assumming this is because
Microsofts is considered as "better".
Since I have recently added many new items to my system: USB hub, memory
card reader/writer, external hard drive (that seems to not be working right
now and could be the "unknown USB device"), DSL (with modem/router/gateway
and 2nd computer hooked up), and about to add my tivo to the network
connection with a usb adapter to network. All this PLUS the Linksys USB
Bluetooth Adapter which most people have problems installing onto win xp s.
pk 2 like me... I know quite a bit about computers, but sometimes when
dealing with new items I do need just a little more info than to update the
drivers (since there seem to be a million and one of them on here).
I now have way too many new items under devices and they are not all named
in a way that I can tell what they specifically are (generic doesn't help
alot if you have more than 1 generic item)....
Could anyone please help me with more specific directions (like where the
device should be listed under, what possible names, etc) and since I have
already (I assume) downloaded the correct driver to my hard drive, tell me
how to find it (i was told a subfolder and there are many items (more
folders) listed under there and I would like to pick the correct one during
the process...
I am trying to use a Linksys USBBT100 Bluetooth Adapter, plugged into my USB
Hub (not straight into my computer's slots) on a Win XP Service Pack 2
system. I know plenty of people that have done what I need to do and have it
work, I am just stupid and need more details (and soon would be great, hah).
Thanks ahead of time (and don't send me to read anymore Windows Help
articles because chances are that I have already read them).
