I just backup my files on an external hard drive because i had to reformat my

no it asks me for a program to open the e drive but i dont know what to use

How did you backup - if you used a backup program it should have a restore
option. By any chance did you just copy the files to the drive?

I take it that you format-ed the backup (external hard drive) before
you copied? Same FAT32 or NTFS as the original HDD?
