Help with Accounts, Profiles, etc.

I feel okay about a lot of MS products and how to use
them. I have been from the beginning virtually inept
when it comes to managing user accounts/profiles,
whatever you want to call them. I have Windows XP Pro
and 6 users on one machine. We have two ISPs that use
the same accelerator service (under a different name).
It seem that no matter what I do, no matter what
combination of settings, account, and connection
information I use, somebody cannot access something.
Right now although I log onto one ISP, both come up as
active and the clock ticks on each account (apparently).
What I am looking for is something that might be
titled, "Okay, you're almost a complete idiot and cannot
sort out profiles and connections, etc. Here is exactly
what they are, and how they work, and how to set up one
without botching the other." Is there any place on the
net, at the book store, any source at all where I can get
this kind of help? Thanks.

Search for "user accounts" in Windows Help and Support. There is a ton of
information there. You can also pick up one of the many very good books at
your local bookstore regarding the use of Windows XP. Just browse the
computer section of the store and you'll find dozens of books.

Personally, I don't use any accounts, passwords or profiles on any of my
systems. It is my experience that they cause more problems than just about
anything else you can imagine. I have never set up any of my systems with a
Windows Logon password and I've been working with computers for years. The
user accounts and user profiles features of Windows XP are one of those
ideas that looks great on paper, but is a nightmare in the real world.

Thakns to you and Rodney for the suggestions. I will
persevere and see what I can do. My inclination at this
point though is that having two ISPs on one machine is a
bad idea, or maybe not for those who aren't on the high
part of the IT literacy curve.
