When you start the computer it stays in the black screen
and says that it is missing a windows setup system32 file,
i believe. Its something like that. It wont do anything
but stay on that screen. It says use the setup disk that
came with the computer, but we cant find it and tried to
use a disk that installs windows XP, it didnt work, should
it. It says once you place the disk in hit R for
repairs. With that disk it just came back to the same
screen. So i was wondering if you had any advice on
how to fix this problem and have i already lost everything
on my comp?? Thank you very much for your time.

You're in the wrong group, you should be posting
to .general.
However, if your machine is covered by any sort of
warranty, call tech support, they will most likely be able
to replace the CD that came with your machine.
However, if you are not covered by a warranty, you'll need
to go into your machine's BIOS, (watch the machine as it
boots, it will usually have a message saying 'press DEL to
enter setup' or similar. If it doesn't, try DEL and if
that doesn't work, f2) and change your first boot device
to be the CD.
You will probably then, when rebooting, be asked to press
any key to boot from the CD. Do this, and then follow the
instructions on the screen. If you want to keep the data
on the drive *do not* format or repartition the machine.
