Help: why Organize Favorites does not work?

When I click on Favorites > Organize Favorites, all I get is a red X in the
right-hand text frame where the list of folders and links should be.

Add Favorites works fine, and the list of favorites works just fine. With
Windows Explorer (right-click Start > Explore), I see a Favorites folder
where it should be.

Org Fav misbehaves in this manner for only one account, which is an admin
account. It works just fine for two other accounts.

Why doesn't Org Fav work for the one account? What can I do to restore that
functionality?

I have Win XP Pro SP2 with IE6 (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519). My
last Win Upd was about 4 weeks ago, I think.

This should help.

Organize Favorites dialog in Internet Explorer displays a "Red X" mark:

Thanks for the quick response. I tried both solutions, to no avail.

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll displayed the following: DllRegisterServer and
DllInstall in shdocvw.dll succeeded.

olereg.vbs ran to completion, but the problem persists.

Any other thoughts?

See if the extension is blocked in "Manage Add-ons" (XP SP2 only). More
information is available in the link which I posted.

Bingo! I probably did this to myself. I disabled Shell Name Space
(shdocwv.dll). Duh!

Thanks again.

Do you have any comments on other add-ons that I disabled. They are:

DriveLetterAccess (Sonic Solutions) tfswshx.dll
Research
Sun Java Console npjpi142_03.dll
Windows Messenger

I am particularly leery about enabling Reseach (what's that?) and
Windows Messenger (no use for it).

But I probably should enable DLA (part of Sonic's DVD/CD burning
product) and Java Console. Right?

You're welcome.

The other four extensions seem to be optional items. I don't know what DLA
extension does in Internet Explorer, but it sounds an optional item for me.
"Research" extension is added by Microsoft Office.

Neither do I. That's why I thought I'd disable it. Maybe I'll do some
google research first. I "know" that DLA is a feature of the Sonic
DVD/CD burner, but I do see the IE connection either.
"Research" extension is added by Microsoft Office.

Do you (or anyone else) have any idea what this does in IE? And how is
this add-on triggered? By clicking on a toolbar icon, perhaps? (I
probably disabled it in my effort to streamline the toolbar.)

Here is some more information on the "Research" extension.
