Help - where to start?

Hi all,
I need to create a DB for a store(orders,inventory control etc.)
I have to integrate a barcode gun into this system.
how can I create a mechanism that convert the barcode to the product name?

any ideas how to do that? and how to build that DB?

If you have Access 2000 or later you can use the Orders database that came
as a sample with Access as a starting point.
