Hey Guys,
Hope you can help this novice (me!).
I have a dell inspiron 6000 notebook running on windows xp. It was running from the mains last night when the cord was pulled out and it swtiched off.
On restarting i get an error message on the booting screen which is something like:
missing or corrupt file
c:windows/system32/setup/windows
can boot from cd press r on first screen for repair.
- Im not good at this stuff so i put in my xp cd and went to boot menu (f2 on 1st screen) and pointed it to boot from cd.
-pressed r for repair and it went to dos screen asking for command. from the help list i typed chkdsk as it seemed the only one relevant.
- after 2 hours of checking to 100% it just stopped and didnt tell me anymore so i went to bed
how can i fix this?
have i made things worse and how do i reverese what ive done so far ie on boot menu?
thanks in advance
gig
