I'm a computer idiot so no one will insult me by being very simple. No
spyware programs I've tried will work. Isn't there a simple program? I have
just discovered how to get a hijack list, but now what do I do? These things
are very irritating. Thank you, Ellis

I forgot to tell you in the first post, when you get to the website, under
products
click on personal. Then under the picture, click on learn more. When the page
loads, click on Evaluation Copy. You will see a download with an arrow above
it, click on it, and then follow instructions. Good luck.

You say you have been able to save a HijackThis log, great.
Read this tutorial and ensure that you've got it right.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=42

Once done > run HijackThis > save a scan log and post it to /any/ of the
following (expert) forums for analysis.

Sorry Diana Jean, I think our replies crossed in the mail in going from my NNTP
to your HTLM interface, didn't mean to upstage your reply on this one.
Sometimes there's a bit of a delay involved. :)

Hi Diana

First of all DaveMs advice works ! You have a Spyaxe referens using his
URL

About Spysubtract and TrendMicro.

TrendMicro bought Intermute so now it is TM Antispyware
(a little URL correction)
http://www.intermute.com/products/spysubtract.html

It´s better to get the whole Trend Micro PC Cillin 2006
suite and a total protection.

http://www.trendmicro.com/en/products/desktop/pc-cillin/evaluate/overview.htm

Absolute great !

No "bloatware" as Njorton and One care.

regards
plun

Yesterday I was infected by SpySheriff, a spyware. The Microsoft anti
spyware did asked me to block or allowed their "Paytime" startup software,
(that was the actual name) and of course I blocked them all. But, that
didn't prevent from downloading their small software to my computer. I
thought fast and I unplugged the electricity of my modem and that was it. I
started by uninstalling the software, then I made a search for a spysheriff
folder and there was still one in my programs folder. I deleted it and I
looked in my startup programs to see what they added to the liste. The only
program I didn't recognize was the paytime, so I did a search of that one and
it was created that same day, bingo, I deleted it also. The problem went
away. But, there was still this picture in my desktop saying something like,
use us. Microsoft recommends us to remove the spyware. I did a search again
and I deleted any folders and files that were created that same day and time.
It all went away. After that I restored to an earlier day and everything is
back to normal. But, the thing is that the spyware system I have from
Microsoft didn't find it when I scanned with it inside. My point is that if
your spyware doesn't work, the best way is to search any folders and files
(also hidden) and then delete it. Don't worry if you delete your not suppose
to your going to get it back when you restore to an earlier day.

No, I wasn't saying anything specific about your post. I replied using your
post because I just happened to be reading yours at the moment.

I posted my experience to help anybody. It was a general post of a very
effective way to eliminate that spyware. But, thanks for replying mine.
