Ok, here is the deal.
I can ping intrenally on my network or extrenally. I can resolve hos
names for IP's. I can ping and port scan PC's on my network. I can FT
to and from many sites. I can update NAV with live update.
I CAN NOT get to any websites. I can not get to any shares on m
network. I can not view a list of PC's on my network.

It is a Windows XP Pro PC SP1. It was working up until this morning.
had not installed anything on it, but on boot up Zone Labs Intergit
desktop died with an error about not being able to validate a DLL.
found a number of things on this isse on the web and on Zone Labs site
I was able to uninstall the firewall. After this I was able to ge
online and do everything I needed to do.

I turned on XP firewall and was not able to get on the web then. So
turned it off and still nothing.
Please, any ideas???
THanks...

I've run into the same problem several times with two different firewall
programs that either corrupted themselves or were improperly uninstalled.
The problem appears to be that the firewall is still active, with no way to
control it, so it blocks just about everything.

What I ended up doing was manually uninstalling the firewall to a point
where it would let me reinstall it. Then doing a proper uninstall. Then I
could reinstall it and it worked fine.

The manual uninstallation was a pain in the arse. And tedious. Mostly
involving editing the registry and deleting a lot of related files.
