I have an old computer with a version of Windows 2000
professional which I would like removed. The problem is,
I have forgotten my logon ID and I cannot get past the
login screen. I have tried using my Application Recovery
CD which came with my comp., but it says that it cannot
find the necessary files. What should I do to reformat
my hard drive/get rid of Windows 2000?

To wipe the drive, some ways include; boot a win98/ME startup disk, run
fdisk and delete all partition information found (as long as NTFS is
primary). Or boot the Windows 2000 CD-Rom or setup disks and when you get to
the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions found, then
abort the install. Or use a utility named delpart.
