Think I messed up. Made the following changes:
- A: On our PDC (and we have no BDC) I turned
service: "DNS Server to Start "Manual" and now cannot log
in.
- B: Added another NIC to our machine.
===
I think the culprit is 'A' though I am about to remove
the extra NIC to make sure B is not in the picture anymore
===
Keep getting the following error:
ISASS.exe - System Error: Security Accounts manager
initialization failed because of the following error:
Directory Service cannot start. Error Status
0xc0002e1. Please click OK to shut down the system and
reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode. Check the
event log for more Detailed Information
===
Have tried rebooting with option F8 and all of them
result in ether the above error except the mode:
Directory Services Restore Mode" which has just the
inability to log in (no error message just invalid
user/pass).
===
Tried to reboot from the original CDs and do a repair,
but the server could not log in when prompted to provide
the Administrator password.
===
Please help !!!

Thanks ACE. Your reply makes sense. The server is a W2K
server.
===
I think we forgot the original local Administrator
password (keep getting rejected) so we are looking into
the ERD.
===
Is the URL for Sysinternal's ERD disk on
www.sysinternals.com? Unfortunately we cannot find the
ERD. Do you have the URL?
