I have turned off sharing via My computer/Network
Connections. I still have someone logging on. He is
destructive. This has been going on for about a month,
and I have called Microsoft, AOL, VPR MAtrix, etc...How
can I get this guy off??? Running PC's, all on dial up,
NOT NETWORKED, and 1 ME.

Hi. When my hubby got the bright idea to install AOL 8
Plus and later, AOL 9 on his computer, noticed a lot of
Remote Access activity on his computer too. We do have
broadband, however, and he has a byoa plan. In his System
events, just prior to the Remote Access activity, I found
that the ATWPKT2 service is sent a start control. When I
did a search on ATWPKT2, found it in the AOL folder. So it
is a part of AOL. I then ran across a nifty utility
called "Active Ports" posted by a MS XP newsgroup user -
downloaded it. Ran "Active Ports" when AOL started up, and
the Remote Access was going out to AOL, not coming in.
But, I don't know if this also holds true for dialup
access or even your version of AOL. His computer doesn't
have a dialup modem. We do use firewalls on all of our
computers, and Remote Access is unchecked on the XP
machines. The firewall does prevent inbound Remote Access.
Maybe you might want to try out "Active Ports" and see if
you are actually being hacked? If you discover you are
really being hacked, you can stop access and get the
offenders IP and report it.

"Active Ports" can be found here:
