To change the screen Background picture :---
I right-click on screen, then Click on 'Properties'
I get 'Display Properties', & I click on 'Desktop'
to open the sub-page

To select a Background picture, as I click on the
background picture list starting with 'None', some
of them behave OK, except when I click on
the 'Windows XP' picrure, I get the following error msg :--
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
rundll32.exe - Application Error

X The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory
at "0x00000010".
The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

OK CANCEL
------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Display Properties' hangs. I have to re-boot to cleanup the Screen
This error repeats even after I re-boot the WinXP Pro.
I can individually click on these bmp or jpg pictures, they open
properly without any trouble.

Is there any easy way to fix this rundll32 error?
Appreciate any help.

It appears that you are infested with a piece of spyware.
Google gave me this:
Description:
scchost.exe is a process which is registered as the DONK virus.
This Trojan allows attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords
and personal data.
It is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately. Please
see additional details regarding this process

i would suggest you download Spybot Search and Destroy
at
http://safer-networking.org/ install it update it and run it.

then download, install, update and run Adaware

www.lavesoft.com

Both are free. The free Adaware is easy to miss. Check right side near
the bottom of the page. Good luck.

I have both programs on and installed ran both nothing also my soyware any
other ideas.

It could be that it was removed but there is something in the run folder
in the registry or start up folder. Here's a link to Trend Micro's
virus info page just type DONK in their search engines and you will
get several hits. In the article click on the technical info link to
get info.

Just for good measure you might try their online virus scan.
